Three Rivers Crossing, Center for QiGong and International Institute for Oriental Healing, was envisioned by Dr. Russell DesMarais during his travels in China in 1993 while studying, training and living with several Chinese QiGong Masters. Dr. DesMaris is now seeing former and new patients for wellness and preventive care by appointment only.

The vision of a center to teach the ancient principles and practices of QiGong, combined with modern scientific understandings of energy medicine, set in a clinical environment of complementary health care has now been established in conjunction with Turtle Island Heath Center, founded by Dr. DesMarais in 1978, has been advancing the model of alternative healing that integrates chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, nutrition, exercise, preventative care, wellness education and spiritual development since its inception. This model of care and each of these approaches have their foundation in the principle of classical and traditional Oriental medicine and philosophy.

Three Rivers Crossing will offer courses of study and training for patients, interested members of the public, health care professionals and students of complementary medicine. Three rivers Crossing is the first and only QiGong training center in North America to be authorized by The National Science and Research Center for Applied QiGong in Benxi, Liaoning Province, China to provide training, education and research in the field of QiGong.

In addition to recognized Chinese certification, Three Rivers Crossing has at its foundation the special teachings of several contemporary chinese masters, as well as the unique contributions of Dr. DesMarais, in synthesizing and unifying the natural healing principles of both the East and the West.

The center will offer four levels of training for patients and the general public, with advanced certifications, and specialties for health care professionals interested in using QiGong and traditional Oriental Healing Methods for the care and treatment of patients in office, clinic, or hospital settings. To obtain certifications, two years of training, are required along with an internship and residency to qualify as a QiGong healer and/or QiGong teacher.

Three Rivers Crossing will sponsor special events, workshops, seminars and guest instructors in the fields of traditional Chinese healing and QiGong.

What is QiGong?

QiGong is an ancient health improvement and healing system developed by the Chinese thousands of years ago. Based on energy they observed flowing through the body, the Chinese formulated an understanding, nomenclature, cosmology and self-healing system that is still practiced today by the general public and utilized in hospitals and clinics throughout China. QiGong uses special methods of breathing, posture and mental concentration to gather, balance and strengthen the energy systems found within the body and connected to sources of universal energy found existing in our natural environment. These practices can be used for self-improvement, self-healing and spiritual development. As a healing system, practitioners are trained to emit a special healing energy called Qi into the bodies and energy systems of their patients.

Modern scientists have confirmed that infrared, magnetic, electrical, radio waves, and acoustical energy is emitted from the hands of QiGong healers that greatly effect various health problems. In our classes, QiGong levels I and II are designed for those who want to learn self-healing methods while levels III and IV will concentrate on training related to assisting others to heal. The Advanced QiGong training program is based on the principles, philosophy and methods found in traditional Chinese Medicine. The program along with the internship and residency allows those in the advanced program to further their study and application of QiGong for either self-healing and self-actualization as well as for those wanting training in the field of QiGong healing and teaching.
